ALL SLAY #3
(Northcote, VIC)
Just for all you perverts, Katy has compiled the “sex issue” of her Buffy the Vampires Slayer fanzine. The contributors provide an academic (but thankfully not dry and dull) insight into the shagging history of the buffyverse. BtVS heralded a new media platform for strong female characters and a progressive portrayal of a lesbian relationship. There is much discussion on gender fluidity and how BtVS challenged stereotypes. I must admit that I always enjoyed the fact that the male characters on the show were usually the ones walking around shirtless:) This zine assumes some prior knowledge of the show but if you haven’t watched Buffy you’ve got to get with the program and beg for, borrow, or steal the DVD series, because you’re truly missing out on one of the greatest television series ever. So get to it! For Buffy fans this is an excellent and insightful read and even includes rude fan fiction. Naughty! $1/ 40g/ A6/ 50p

CHILD THAT MIND #3
(Auckland, NEW ZEALAND)
In the intro Moira says: “I guess this zine is about insides and outsides, the world inside my head and body and how it relates to big things outside of me. Also it’s about writing as a way of making sense of things. Maybe all my zines are about these things.” She writes about seeking answers for her pelvic pain and the resulting feelings of the diagnosis. I really love Moira‘s words; she draws the reader into her life in New Zealand and paints an enchanting picture of her day to day musings and political passions. $1/ 30g/ A6+/ 56p
